The Luxury of sleeping in a 16th-century restored palace

A palace with a fascinating history in a privileged natural setting and a geographical-, scenic-, gastronomic- and architecturally unique context.

Palacio de Luces belonged to the Victorero family, an aristocratic family that had held the title for many generations after fighting in the Reconquest conflicts. The Victorero family, which had abandoned the military and war functions at the beginning of the 16th century, resided in the nearby beach of La Griega, where they were involved in trade and fishing activities.

The Discovery of America and the noble condition of the family made them promptly initiate a trade with the Indies and part of the family travelled to Mexico in search of fortune and opportunities. Therefore, when the entailed state was founded in our palace, the family was already very close and related to people living in the Indies.

— Palacio de Luces elevates the art of living to its greatest expression, blending in with the local culture and highlighting the uniqueness of a hotel dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of tradition and the preservation of the local and natural heritage.

Enjoy a palace in a privileged natural setting between the sea and the mountains.

There are spectacular views from the palace gardens, the Lastres Bay, the Sueve Mountain Range, the Cantabrian Sea to the Picos de Europa Mountains.

The palace shows its surroundings proudly through big glass walls, bay windows and high dining halls, while also showing off its origins and influences of the Indies in every detail.

Rather than competing with them, the walls in the newer rooms are meant to be an extension of the landscapes visible through the windows. The landscapes speak of the past and the feats of their previous inhabitants. They tell us about Asturian scenes and about those new ones they discovered in the Indies and brought back in their botanic treaties or exotic plants that served as decoration for their gardens.

Gastronomy and landscapes influenced by America

With its massive modular glass wall at the front, the spectacular bay window at Tella restaurant regales us with incredible vistas. The sea and mountain breeze and the smell of the north will take the diner’s breath away on days when the weather is nice and allows the windows to stay open. The chef Nacho García Canellada offers an Asturian cuisine influenced by the Indies. Tella mixes the most representative aspects of the Asturian landscape and gastronomy with that touch from the Indies.
